Abstract

The Institute for Education is dedicated to supporting educators, parents, and students in Malta through its research initiatives and projects. It has established the Malta Journal of Education as a platform for its course participants and staff as well as other researchers in the field of education to disseminate their recent findings, thereby enhancing the knowledge base in the field of education and informing policy and practice.

This issue entitled Education Research 2024 is the eight issue of the Malta Journal of Education and the fourth in the series Education Research exploring various aspects of education in Malta. It includes articles that examine the influence of language in physics education, the benefits of play-based learning, demographic changes in Maltese society, and strategies for managing educational change.

Author Biography

Christine Fenech, Institute for Education

Christine Fenech is the Senior Manager Research and Development at the Institute for Education, which aims at supporting teachers, parents, and students to address the challenges they face through evidence-based guidelines. Previously she worked as Manager for Research and Policy at the National Commission for Further and Higher Education. She holds a Magister Artium in History of Art, Political Science and Philosophy from the Free University of Berlin and a Master degree in Comparative Euro-Mediterranean Education Studies from the University of Malta. She is currently undertaking her PhD focusing on the academic achievement of migrant students in Malta.
